Nina Sossamon-Pogue | Vice President, Benefitfocus Media
Nina Sossamon-Pogue, an Emmy award-winning television news anchor, is Vice President of Media for Benefitfocus. With a background in investigative reporting, Nina was a popular on-air talent before joining Benefitfocus Media. Prior to that, she served as press secretary to Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards. Nina graduated from Lousiana State University and is a former member of the United States Gymnastics Team.
Ed Anderson | Photojournalist/Editor
Photojournalist Ed Anderson doesn't say much as he prefers to let his video do the talking. A native of South Carolina, Ed worked in television news for almost a decade before joining Benefitfocus Media and has won numerous awards for his photography from organizations that include the Associated Press, Radio and Television News Directors Association, and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association. Ed and his beautiful wife Kim enjoy hanging out with their cocker spaniel, Belle and guinea pig, Mr. B.
Jason Bennett | Production Manager
Jason Bennett is the Production Manager for Benefitfocus Media's state-of-the-art studio. He has been in the broadcast industry for more than a decade, working on everything from stock car racing to the 6 O'Clock News. Jason's fluency in computer graphic design and animation rounds out his extensive experience as a director. With nearly 10,000 hours of live television behind him, he enjoys the new and exciting challenge of working with the Benefitfocus Media team.
Matthew Brown | Interactive Art Director
As Interactive Art Director, Matthew Brown leads many efforts including print collateral, user interface design, video editing and graphic animation. Matt graduated with a B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design from the University of Dayton in 2003 (Go Flyers!). He then flew south for the winter and has never looked back. In his free time you can find Matt with guitar in hand, in the great outdoors, on the golf course, or keeping up with the expanding mind of his 4-year-old-son, Tate.
Joy Capps | Director, Corporate Communications
Joy Capps is the Director of Corporate Communication at Benefitfocus. Over the past 22 years, she has worked with celebrities, politicians and world leaders while at umerous internationally renowned agencies and corporations, including Hill and Knowlton and Compaq Computer Corp. Her experience is complemented by her Master's Degree and active involvement with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Her peers tout her enthusiasm, energy, and willingness to serve as contagious. In her free time, she can be found "playing tourist," reading and spending time with her 175 lb. roommate, Angus, a Great Dane.
Edward Felch | Software Engineer
Edward Felch is a software engineer and an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Cruz. He worked in the Faculty Instructional Technology Center at UCSC, where he earned the SERAP award for student employee service. Edward escaped the gridlock of California in 2007 when he relocated to the South. He is married to Mary Grace and is the owner of three cats.
Rebecca Fox | Senior Reporter/Producer
Rebecca Fox graduated with honors from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and worked several years in television news. After covering everything from hurricanes to politics, Rebecca made the move to new media. She considers healthcare a wonderful arena in which she can help people understand their world. She's especially enjoyed helping her mother, Jane, share the story of her breast cancer treatment. You can watch Jane's videos on icyou.com. In her free time Rebecca keeps busy studying Arabic, writing, spending time with friends and family, and running. Full disclosure: She doesn't run as much as she should.
Manon Husman | Production Manager
Manon Husman, was born and raised in South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where she received her B.A. in Media Arts. After graduation, she traveled the world for many months before settling in Charleston. Prior to joining Benefitfocus Media, Manon was the videographer for the Motley Rice law firm, where she helped create and launch their marketing department. Away from work, Manon spends much of her free time traveling and with her family, friends and her dog, Bella.
John Wilson | Media Solutions Engineer
John Wilson earned a Computer Science degree from Denison University and earned his M.B.A. while a college football coach at West Virginia Wesleyan University. After three years of coaching, John sold luxury cars and helped a start-up become a nationwide, multi-million dollar company. His most recent experience includes serving Benefitfocus as an Interface Designer, Strategy Analyst and now Product Manager. When not working, John enjoys traveling with his wife Amanda, watching football and writing for his blog, www.whereisjohnwilson.com.
Jay Luka | Media Solutions Engineer
Before joining the Benefitfocus Media team, Jay Luka worked for 12 years as a Video Editor/Motion Designer at Post Blur, an award winning post-production studio in Cleveland, Ohio. While at Post Blur, Jay assisted in every aspect of the post-production process including pre-production concepting, shoot supervision, editing, visual effects and electronic distribution. His portfolio includes national and regional TV spots, long and short format videos and independent films, working with clients such as Sherwin-Williams, Applebees, Marathon, Wyndham Resorts, Longhorn Steakhouse and The Cleveland Clinic.
Rachel Cooper | Project Manager
Rachel Cooper is a graduate of College of Charleston with a Bachelors Degree in Corporate Communications and Political Science. Her original work with Benefitfocus provides knowledge of the healthcare industry and client interface. Rachel's desire for an expanding and interactive career has brought her to the Media team. Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina; Rachel enjoys coastal activities, ACC Basketball, and spending time with her cocker spaniel - Milly.
Mary Vertucci | Associate Producer
Mary Vertucci was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and recently moved to Charleston, South Carolina to join the Benefitfocus Media Team. She attended Temple University, where she received her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. During college, Mary completed several internships at South Carolina news stations. That's when she fell in love with the Lowcountry, and knew she had to move back. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Mary worked for a FOX news affiliate as a writer and field producer. She is excited to take her career to New Media and healthcare. Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with family, friends and her Cockapoo, Linus.
Kristen McFann | Producer
As the daughter of an Air Force pilot, Kristen McFann attended more than a dozen schools in the US and Europe. It was good training for her career as a news anchor where she worked in cities including: West Palm Beach, Phoenix and Jackson, MS. Kristen also produced law enforcement reality shows for SpikeTV and TruTV. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Kristen enjoys cheering on the Crimson Tide with her husband Scott and son Cameron.
